Coweta County Implementation Tools

This work helped to implement a set of new Model Ordinances for this county located to the south of metro Atlanta. Market + Main's role was to draft and edit all new zoning districts created as part of the project. Additionally, information regarding the districts at community and County Commission hearings was presented. The new zoning districts were drafted to implement the provisions of the newly adopted County Comprehensive Plan. A total of nine new districts were created to give the County a comprehensive set of zoning tools to create new districts for Single Family Infill, Mixed Use Centers, Service Corridors, Industrial Parks, Historic Communities, Scenic Corridors, and Interstate Gateways areas. These districts established, along with a companion Development Regulations document, new urban design standards to the County pertaining to the creation of blocks, new street standards, sidewalks, open space, building design, and parking standards. All of these elements together equip this suburban county to grow into the future in ways that preserve their small town rural feel.
