UrbanPlan / Urban Land Institute
A curriculum/project sponsored by Urban Land Institute that is geared to high school and college students to learn about the planning/development process. Students are given an RFP for a fictitious community, and are assigned roles (neighborhood liaison, marketing director, city liaison, site planner & financial analyst) to be on a team to submit a development proposal. It's not just about design or finance, it's an attempt to educate them about the overall development process and how they fit in, both potentially professionally and as a citizen. We provided management, coordination, and outreach services for this program for the Atlanta District Council of ULI. We provide ongoing volunteer training assistance nationwide for Urban Land Institute's national UrbanPlan program.
